Tata Intra V20 launched in Lusaka

The all-new Tata Intra V20 was launched at the Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia on November 18, 2021. The launch was attended by more than 100 existing and potential customers of Tata Zambia who expressed great pleasure and enthusiasm about the vehicle and the potential impact that this small commercial vehicle will have on their businesses as a whole. In pure Zambian celebratory fashion, the event was highlighted by authentic Zambian traditional dancers to truly welcome the Tata Intra V20 onto the Zambian scene.

The launch was graced by the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Honorable Elias Mubanga as the Guest of Honour and the His Excellency the High Commissioner of India Mr Ashok Kumar as the chief guest.

Mr Kumar during his speech touched on the historical relationship that Zambia has shared with India since before Zambia’s independence and highlighted the importance of SMEs to the automobile industry as they offer services ranging from parts in manufacturing to after-sales.

During his speech, Mr Mubanaga highlighted the new-dawn government’s eagerness to implement policies that support SME development. The minister intimated the government’s willingness to partner with Tata Zambia in skills development for the SMEs as well as offer access to favoruable financing option to provide access to Tata Motors products and encouraged the team to spread further across the rural areas beginning 2022.

The unveiling of the Intra V20 was truly worth the wait as witnessed by the guests and the level of excitement exhibited. One of the many highlights of the nights was the presentation of the car key to some customers that have already bought the vehicle.

Mr Mubanga and Tata Zambia and Malawi Auto Business Head Mr Sudhanshu Taneja presented a key to the Dairy Gold team that initially bought seven and later bought an additional 13 to increase their Tata Intra V20 fleet to 20.

His Excellency Mr Ashok Kumar together with Tata Zambia Head Sales and Marketing Vishwas Jha presented the other keys to representatives of Savannah Agrochemicals and Powerfine Foods respectively.
