In a heartening display of environmental responsibility, the GreenWay project was initiated in collaboration with Kurunkadugal (Small Forest) and the District Environment Department. The inauguration ceremony, held on January 23, 2024, was graced by the Thirupathur District Collector, Mr D. Baskara Pandian.

Other esteemed guests included Mr Gopal Krishnan, I.A.S., District Environmental Engineer, and Ms P. Premalatha, RDO, Vaniyambadi. Mr Babu, Tamil Nadu Forest Department Ranger, and Mr Suresh, Forest Inspector, also participated in the event, delivering inspiring talks that emphasised the profound impact of environmental movements and the importance of collective action in embracing eco-friendly initiatives.

Through the dedicated efforts of 750 workers, 1200 meticulously chosen medicinal saplings were planted across four acres of land within the Ambur leather tannery premises. This initiative promises to significantly enrich the local ecosystem. Notably, the plantation is sustained by recycled water from the unit’s leather processes, purified through Tata International’s advanced effluent treatment.
