Speciality distribution business launches healthcare range in Africa

Tata International’s Speciality distribution business launched a comprehensive product portfolio under its Healthcare division for the African market. The range, branded Pro-Surj and Pro-Life, is in the segments of hospital disposables and herbal over-the-counter (OTC) products respectively.

The launch of Pro-Surj and Pro-Life aims to leverage the opportunity of growing market for healthcare products, ascended due to increasing population (Sub-Saharan Africa has about 11 per cent of the world’s population), disease awareness and improving healthcare infrastructure. Unfortunately also carries 24 per cent of the global burden of disease.

The Pro-Surj range includes key products in surgical such as gloves, syringes, needles, IV cannulas, gauze and cotton rolls. The Pro-Life range comprising of OTC products will be launched in Q4 2016-17.

Following its launch in Kenya, Pro-Surj was launched in Zambia on December 17, 2016. The Zambia launch was well attended by major stakeholders such as wholesalers, pharmacists and procurement managers.
