TIL co-sponsors community reception for Prime Minister Modi in Johannesburg

Tata International (TIL) was one of the sponsors of the grand community reception organised for Indian Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. The function was held at The Dome, Johannesburg, and among the guests were senior employees from various TIL subsidiaries.
The event began with Mr Modi being welcomed by a praise singer in true South African style. He then kicked off his address to the gathering of about 11,000, by highlighting India’s dynamism. “While the world is marked by slowdown, India has registered a growth of 7.6 per cent this year and we are working to grow at 8 per cent in the years ahead,” he said.
“India’s rise can be defined as HOPE – Harmony, Optimism, Potential and Energy,” he continued. “India and South Africa are strategic partners. We should build a partnership that spans the entirety of human endeavour.” He also mentioned India’s shared history with the country that “transformed Mohandas into Mahatma”.
Mr Modi’s state address aimed to strengthen economic, political and cultural ties between India and South Africa. He touched upon how India and South Africa face similar challenges and highlighted India’s eagerness to join the country in its growth journey.
