Metals US team member participates in spreading the joy of reading

June 15, 2019

Carolyn Chernous, from the Metals team in USA, had the opportunity to join the Portland Land Rover-Jaguar team (Oregon, USA) as they read to children attending the new Faubion School. She shares her experiences:

“I had the opportunity to speak and connect with the Land Rover-Jaguar team that I found out is located right up the street from our office in Portland, OR! It was a pleasure meeting others under the Tata umbrella. Admittedly, the children were a lot more interested in Land Rover-Jaguar than steel but they threw a few questions my way as well.”

“We handed out books, that actually had a couple of words that we all had to Google before reading out loud, which was a humbling moment. I had a group of five kids around age 9 to read to and we enjoyed reading and sharing some of our favourite animals.”

“After the reading was over the books were donated to the school and we were taken on a short tour of the Faubion School, which is one of a kind. It has partnered with a local university and healthcare company, creating more of a campus than your typical public elementary school, offering students healthcare in-house! The most impressive room was the workshop which included tools and 3D printers. The experience was very rewarding and fun. I hope we can partner with Land Rover-Jaguar for events like this in the future.”
