Tata International (TIL) was ranked the 13th highest contributor in Tata Engage – Tata Volunteering Week 4 and 5. The global team clocked around 6,000 volunteering hours through various programmes.

Dr Mukund Rajan, Member, Group Executive Council and Brand Custodian and Chief Ethics Officer, Tata Sons, congratulated Mr NN Tata, MD, TIL, appreciating the company’s excellent volunteering performance in FY16. The Tata group’s target for the year was 1 million hours, and TIL played a significant role in helping achieve this goal.

Of the 6,000 hours, the Finished Leather Business team (Dewas, Madhya Pradesh) clocked 4,600 hours through a variety of activities. These included health camps, health awareness and vaccination camps for women and children, clean-up and tree plantation drives. Volunteers also participated in blood donation drives, voter ID registration initiatives and initiatives aimed at improving sanitation at government schools.

Similar activities were also carried out at the company’s various international locations – Chennai and Mumbai (India), Africa and Singapore.

Tata Engage, organised by the Tata Sustainability Group, brings together Tata companies on a common volunteering platform. The umbrella programme aims to encourage Tata volunteers around the world to help enrich the community by contributing their time and skills.

TIL pledges its continued support, as the group takes on bigger challenges and set new benchmarks in corporate volunteering, living up to the group vision of touching the lives of a quarter of the world’s population by 2025.
