TIL MD at the India Africa Summit

Mr NN Tata, MD, Tata International, and Chairman of CII Africa Committee, participated in the 3rd India Africa Summit in New Delhi during October 26-30, 2015. Indian Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, addressed the inaugural ceremony of the summit that saw the participation of leaders of major Africa countries and other dignitaries.

Mr Tata’s interactions with the African leaders included the business session with HE Mr Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, and other industry captains and dignitaries such as Mr Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman, CII Western Region and Managing Director, Kirloskar Brothers; Dr Papa Abdoulaye SECK, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment, Republic of Senegal; Dr Sanjeev K Balyan, Minister of State for Agriculture, Government of India; and Mr Mankeur Ndiaye, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Senegal. He also interacted with African Union Chairperson, Ms Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

The summit, held at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, was aimed at a deeper engagement between India and Africa and showcased the width and breadth of investment potential in India and Africa. The discussions focused on matters of national importance such as financial assistance, UN Security Council, trade, education, healthcare and medicine, technology, clean energy and climate, food security, terrorism and UN peacekeeping missions.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched the Africa-India: Facts & Figures 2015 on the margins of the India-Africa Summit. The publication is centred on the key sectors that Africa and India place the greatest levels of engagement.
