TIL at Fourth Partnership Platform meeting of SITA

Tata International (TIL) participated in the Fourth Partnership Platform meeting at New Delhi, India, under the framework of the Supporting Indian Trade and Investment for Africa (SITA) project organised by ITC. TIL was represented by Ms Janaki Chaudhry, Head of Strategy and Business Development. Ms Chaudhry made a presentation on ‘Indian Private Sector Sourcing of Intermediate Products from African LDCs Using DFTP Route’ on March 20, 2015. This was part of the session on ‘DFTP Scheme: Can it Catalyse in Building a Robust India-Africa Value Chain?’.

Ms Chaudhry also participated in the SITA Implementation Partners Meeting. The Implementation Partners meeting aimed at gathering public and private sector representatives from India and five African countries.

The objectives of the two-day meeting on March 19-20, 2015, were:

– To provide clear information on the procedural requirements that are applicable to export from Partner Countries to India under the DFTP scheme;
– To understand Indian investor perspectives and identify partnership opportunities; and
– To understand the import sourcing requirements of Indian companies, and identify matches in East African countries.

Notable speakers at the two-day event included Mr Vijay Kumar, Director, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India (TBC); Mr Pranav Kumar, Head, International Trade Policy, Confederation of Indian Industry; Ms Jerusalem Amdemariam, Minister Counsellor-I (Business), Embassy of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia; Ms Leluu O Abdallah, Counsellor (Political and Economic Affairs), Tanzania High Commission; and Prof Abhijit Das, Head, Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, among others.
