TIL Chairman heads meeting of CII Committee on International Trade

The first meeting of the CII Committee on International Trade Policy and Exports 2015-2016 was held in New Delhi on August 6, 2015 under the chairmanship of Mr GK Pillai, Chairman of Tata International.
The opening remarks by Mr Pillai, who has been Home and Commerce Secretary, Government of India, set the tone for discussions on three key issues – current export performance of India, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), and current state of play in the WTO Doha Trade Negotiations.
The Committee’s recommendations and discussions will focus on:
- Foreign Trade Policy
- Standards
- Trade Agreements including WTO
- Global Value Chains (GVCs)
Among the notable attendees of this event were Mr Pravir Kumar, Directorate General of Foreign Trade and, Mr Shishir Priyadarshi, Director, WTO.
