Tata International’s Metals team inaugurates Houston office

June 30, 2014

Tata International Metals Americas formally inaugurated its Houston office on June 3, 2014. The event was attended by Tata International MD Mr NN Tata, and approximately 100 guests from the industry.

Tata International Metal Americas set up the Houston office late last year, which is now complete and fully occupied with trading talent. The Houston office is strategically initiated as a gateway to Latin America, as well as to firmly establish TIL for the North American business.

The reception was hosted by Tata International Metals Americas’ President Mr Murat Askin. In his welcome address Mr Askin explained why Houston was chosen as the location of TIL’s new office, “To marry our North and Latin American business together under one roof and use all the synergies from our entire business, we chose Houston as the beginning of our silk road to Latin America.”

He introduced Mr Tata to distinguished guests and requested him to address the attendees. In his address, Mr Tata talked about Tata group and Tata International, its inspirations for growth, and how the Houston office would play a role in the pursuit of the organisation’s goals and vision.

The event was a huge success and an excellent opportunity for Mr Tata and other executives to network and socialise with important business partners.

A general sales meeting was conducted around this event with all trading managers, at the Omni Hotel Galleria on June 1-2. America’s trading managers gave a review of the last and current fiscal years, and their differentiated approach to increase business top line and bottom line. There were also one-to-one meetings with key customers, suppliers and financial partners with TIL top leaders to reinforce the relationship with top-level management involvement. Mr Tata met with two of the strategic suppliers from Mexico and one of the top 10 customers in the Americas. The meeting with a Latin-American bank focused on the growing need to finance TIL’s customers’ businesses in Latin America. Mr Ramesh Mani, Global Head of Metals Business, and Mr John Caouki, Global Director of Steel Team, were also present.
