Steel processing team in Johannesburg contributes to girls’ health initiatives

June 21, 2017

The Tata Africa Steel Processors (TASP) team delivered 1,800 packs of women’s hygiene products to Delpark Secondary School in Brakpan, Johannesburg, on May 5, 2017. The project was undertaken when employees at TASP were asked to suggest names of non-governmental organisations within their communities that needed assistance in hygiene-related issues. From the many suggestions that were received Delpark Secondary School was selected.

TASP is proud to have been part of this initiative, which addresses the challenge reported by recent Census research. It was that found 7 million of 9 million girls in South Africa between 10 and 19 years miss school every month because they don’t have access to or money for sanitary products. These girls fell in the lower living standards measure (LSM) brackets.
