September 20, 2018

A team of 45 volunteers from Tata International, consisting of members from the Solar and Bicycles business teams and representatives from corporate functions, distributed stationery kits in three schools in flood-affected Alappuzha, Kerala on September 11, 2018. Additionally, a number of employees contributed a day’s salary to be donated to the relief efforts in the state.

The team distributed kits to 166 students from the Government High School LPS, Aryad and 95 students from the Government High School, Kuppappuram. Kits were also distributed to 36 special students from the Sneha Special Buds School, Mannachery.

Each stationery kit comprised notebooks, labels, pencil pouch, geometry box, steel water bottle and bag cover. The team also interacted with the young students from the pre-primary to secondary sections. The colourful kits helped boost morale and encourage the children to return to school and continue their education despite the odds.

Mr Vijay Khandwekar, Head Solar business, addressed the children and stressed on the importance of education for a happy, healthy and successful life, and the important role of teachers in moulding the students.
