Mr Muthukumaran V appointed to government bodies for leather industry

Mr Muthukumaran V, Head Leather Products, has been appointed on a number of government and industry bodies that will work on improving various sectors in India. This is in addition to his current role as President of the Indian Shoe Federation (ISF), executive committee member of the Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association (IFLMEA) and executive committee member of the Council for Leather Exports (Southern Region).
Member of the Union Government’s Development Council for Footwear and Leather industry (DCFL):
The 25-member council will help build a robust supply chain for the footwear and leather industry that would make the sector competitive in both domestic and export markets.
The council has been set up as per the directive of the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr Piyush Goyal. Mr Goyal is taking specific measures to promote 20 sectors, including footwear, leather, furniture, agro-chemicals, ready-to-eat food, steel, textiles, electric vehicles, automobile components, sports goods, and toys. The formation of the council for the footwear and leather sector is in line with the Industrial (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951. The government is also providing duty protection to these sectors from dumping of Chinese products.

Additionally, Mr Muthukumaran has been appointed Chairman for one of its sub-committees: Technology & Industry 4.0 for Leather and Footwear.
Director on the Board of the Governing Council of the Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC):
LSSC is an industry-led body set up under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, focusing on ensuring skilling and employment of personnel for the Indian leather and non-leather footwear, goods, garments and luggage industry. LSSC interacts and coordinates the activities of the various stakeholders in all sub-sectors, including tanning, finished leather, footwear, goods and garments.
