Mr Babulal Gaur, Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, visited the Dewas ladies’ footwear plant on July 12, 2014. Mr Gaur has been greatly appreciative of Tata International’s (TIL) initiatives in empowering women from the bottom sections of society and was briefed on the various initiatives post which he expressed his wish to visit the facilities to understand the current state of the factory. He had previously visited the factory about six years ago when the plant was being built.
Mr Gaur was taken through the various sections of the plant and interacted with the women workers. He felt that the workers displayed a high level of energy and enthusiasm and complimented TIL on its role in creating such a congenial work environment.
In his address to the workers, he mentioned that the quality of production was of a high order and appreciated the fact that TIL was exporting footwear from its Dewas facility to quality-conscious customers around the world. He stated that the initiative needed a lot of encouragement and asked the workers to help create a model factory that not just the state of Madhya Pradesh, but the entire country could be proud of.
Mr Gaur was also briefed on the Navchetna initiatives under TIL’s Affirmative Action Policy and suggested that TIL footwear should showcase this effectively for other industries to learn from.
