Helping build an empowered society

November 11, 2018

It is a matter of pride that our company, Tata International, has clocked more than 5,200 hours of volunteering during FY18. Teams at various locations globally have been driving the initiative with increasing employee participation. The efforts are extremely satisfying as the impact on society becomes visible to the participants, who are inspired by the thoughts of Tata group founder, Jamsetji Tata, who said, “In a free enterprise, the community is not just another stakeholder in business but is, in fact, the very purpose of its existence.”

The cumulative effort of Tata companies was appreciated and Tata group was awarded the 2018 Global Volunteer Programme Award at the 2018 IAVE Global Corporate Volunteering Awards. In fact, 58 Tata companies participated in the volunteering activities, leading to a total of 1.13 million volunteering hours as a group in the year.

Tata International stood 23rd in ranking in the Tata group based on per capita hours spent by employees. The efforts included activities undertaken by teams from across business verticals.

The Global Volunteer Programme Award recognises a global company that shows an exemplary overall approach to global corporate volunteering with a well thought-out strategy that fits their values, priorities, and culture; an understanding and appreciation of global issues and local realities; and activities that thoughtfully address serious problems. The awards, established by IAVE in 2012, are the only global awards to formally celebrate excellence in corporate volunteering.
