L&T, Leeboy, Escorts in talks with Tata International for Africa foray

Global trading and distribution company Tata International is in talks with infrastructure equipment giants including Larsen and Turbo (L&T) for distribution of their infrastructure equipment material in the African continent, said a top executive.

While the talks with various players are at different stages of discussions, some deals are likely to be firmed up in the coming months.

Len J. Brand, executive director and head, distribution vertical, Tata International said, “We are in advance stage of talks with infrastructure equipment manufacturers like L&T, Leeboy and Escorts among others for distribution of their products in Africa. Also, we are looking to expand our presence in South-East Asia.”

The company recently signed up with Hyderabad-based Puzzolana Group, an infrastructure equipment manufacturer, for distribution of their products in Africa.

“Infrastructure equipment market in Africa is worth $3-4 billion and with the rapid growth of this sector, we see a huge business opportunities for sales and service of infra equipment. We are targeting the quarry owners who form almost 50% of the infra equipment,” said Abhijeet Pai, president, Puzzolana Group.
