Leather industry to be boosted though skill development in state

Commerce and Industries Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia has said that skill development will be promoted for boosting investment in leather industry in the state. Presentations regarding usefulness and self-employment in this sector will be given in various colleges. Smt. Scindia stated this at a meeting on investment potential in leather industry in the state here today. Representatives of various states and institutions were present at the meeting.

The Minister said that Madhya Pradesh has conducive atmosphere for setting up any kind of industry. Necessary land, power and manpower are easily available here. Tata International is a major institution which is working in this sector in Madhya Pradesh. At the meeting, Smt. Scindia apprised herself of possibilities in leather industry in the state so that maximum number of investors can be invited and maximum number of youths get employment.

Through a Power Point presentation, Commissioner Industries Shri V.L. Kanta Rao informed about possibilities of better profit through investment in leather industry in Madhya Pradesh. The delegation comprised Chairman, Leather Sector Skill Council, Chennai Shri Habib Hussain, Chairman, Council of Leather Exports, Chennai Shri Rafiq Ahmad, Shri N. Mohan of Tata International, Director Sports & Youth Welfare Shri Upendra Jain, Shri Philip Christopher of Union Rural Development Ministry and Deputy Manager of Central Footwear Training Institute Shri Sanatan Sahu.
