Tata International, Agribank Vietnam sign agreement to promote farm mechanization in Vietnam

Following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi in March 2018, Agribank Vietnam and Tata International’s Vietnamese arm, Tata International Vietnam, signed a binding agreement in Can Tho on August 1, 2018, to further their shared aspiration of providing high-tech and world class farming solutions to farmers, co-operatives, and plantations at affordable interest rates.

The signing ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Mr Parvathaneni Harish, Ambassador of India to Vietnam, senior dignitaries from Agribank Vietnam led by Mr Pham Toan Vuong, and CEO of Tata Africa and Head of Distribution at Tata International Mr Len J Brand.

Mr Brand remarked, “The coming together of two leading institutions in Vietnam signifies the importance and potential of enhancing productivity of farms and farmers, enabling them to meet the rising demand for quality food. Globally, ensuring credit support to farmers has subsequently enhanced agricultural growth and productivity, and uplifted tens of millions of people out of poverty. Tata International Vietnam commits to provide best-in-class farming solutions through its partners Massey Ferguson, Kuhn, Shaktiman, and others, to train farmers with the aim of improving productivity at farms, and to highest levels of machine uptime through its qualified service team and extensive parts network.”

Agribank’s network spreads the length and breadth of Vietnam with six subsidiaries, and nearly 2,300 branches and transaction points. Tata International Vietnam has offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Can Tho supported by an extensive network of dealers and agents across the country. It distributes leading brands of farm machinery such as tractors from 38 to 400hp, sugarcane harvesters, feeding equipment, implements for paddy, sugarcane, dairy, cassava, and others, and will soon launch its range of combine harvesters.
