February 16, 2017

Tata International’s subsidiary Tata Automobile Corporation South Africa (TACSA), delivered an LPO 1823 bus customised into a mobile clinic in February 2017. The team was approached by a South African business group for the project to customise the bus. The bus would be based in rural areas of the state, providing much-needed medical assistance to communities there.

The mobile clinic is equipped with a six-person waiting area, pharmacy counter and sections for dental, eye, general, pathology and gynaecological examinations. It is air-conditioned, with power supply, generator back-up and security cameras, fitted with a chemical toilet and wash basin.

Some of the other features include an LED screen to display health information of patients, an IT network for connectivity of equipment on-board and a wheelchair ramp.

The TACSA team has worked tirelessly from January till early February to deliver the bus in time with required specifications.
The bus was taken to Qwa-Qwa in Free State and will be operational in the rural area for a three-year period.
