May 12, 2016

Tata International organised POSH Awareness Week in March. Awareness sessions-cum-workshops were organised on POSH sensitisation and Vishakha Guidelines for the prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace at Dewas and Chennai. The sessions were organised as part of cascading awareness across various functions and teams. Professor Nasreen Rustomfram, an expert associated with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, shared details on the Indian POSH 2013 Act.

In Dewas, the Apex POSH committee in India had a detailed discussion in the presence of Chairperson Ms Janaki Chaudhry. The session was attended by 25 workers and 32 managers and supervisors, who shared valuable suggestions and queries.

Mr Rakesh Agarwal, Global Head, Leather Business, welcomed Ms Neelam Sood, District Woman Empowerment Officer, Dewas. Ms Sood briefed the employees about POSH-related rules and provisions. She also complimented Tata International on providing a safe and comfortable work environment for its female workers. The session was attended by around 50 female employees, with the help of the District Women Empowerment Office, Dewas.

In Chennai, around 60 employees from all Chennai locations participated in the session conducted by Professor Rustomfram.

Posters display and emailers were circulated to generate awareness among employees. A campaign to garner online pledges from team members also received a good response.
