July 10, 2015

Sustainability is the responsibility of all stakeholders in society and the economy globally. Tata International (TIL) is deeply committed to raising awareness on sustainability, and towards this effort, TIL observed Sustainability Month from May 30 to June 30, 2015. Themed ‘Save Our Resources’, the focus was on positive environmental action and lifestyle changes to contribute towards protecting our planet from further harm.

Teams across geographies participated, including the South Africa, Uganda and Tanzania teams planting trees; Dewas unit driving vehicle pollution control; Chennai unit promoting the use of low-carbon modes of transport; and the Mumbai office saving electricity. A quiz testing the sustainability quotient of the teams was also launched.

Additionally, 10 TIL staff have taken up the SMART 21 Challenge, an initiative by the Tata group. Standing for Sustainable Meaningful Actions for a Responsible Tata, it calls on Tata employees to pledge to do one action everyday for 21 days to do their part for sustainability.

In a related activity, TIL employees and contract staff offered a day’s salary for Nepal earthquake relief. More than Rs 450,000 was collected and contributed to the Tata group’s efforts.
