TIL Dewas plants trees, promotes pollution control

July 10, 2015

Tata International’s (TIL) Dewas unit celebrated World Environment Day by encouraging all employees to take an oath for environment protection. The team planted 50 mango, neem (Indian lilac) and bougainvillea saplings at the unit, PY Industries (a supply chain unit) and surrounding villages.

The initiative was driven by interns and new employees for whom this was symbolic of sowing the seeds of their career and their growth within the company. Each plant within the facility has been adopted by a new joinee at TIL, who would be responsible for its well-being.

This and other activities were undertaken under the aegis of Tata International’s annual Sustainability Month initiative (May 30 to June 30, 2015), themed ‘Save Our Resources’.

Another initiative was the Pollution Under Control (PUC) check camp that organised. Almost 100 vehicles (two- and four-wheelers) were checked. Mr Dilip Keshre, MPPCB Dewas, and Mr Tushar Bichu, Manager – Environment, led these initiatives.

An interactive session was also held to spread awareness on sustainability. Volunteers from the workforce were briefed on the environment, various prevalent pollutants, daily contributions that can make a difference and curb exploitation. Key indicators to measure the severe, observable impacts of pre-occurred exploitation were also highlighted. Participants were also briefed about simple practices that can be adopted to contribute towards environmental conservation. The session was conducted by Mr Bhavishya Gaur, Health, Safety and Environment Protection Officer, assisted by Mr Dhananjay Kashyap, an intern from IIM Indore.
