Solar team completes handover of 23.06 MW tracker project

Tata International’s Solar team successfully completed the handover of their first solar (PV) power plant project developed on single axis (east-west) tracker technology-based module mounting structures (MMS) at the end of November 2017. Located at Chincholi in Karnataka, it has an overall installation capacity of 23.06 MWp.
Spread across 100 acres of land, the project includes 33 single axis tracker blocks, 72,100 units of solar PV Modules, 1,760 rows of module mounting structures, 13,760 of civil foundations, and charging of 5 invertor control rooms.
The overall scope of work included turnkey design, engineering, the supply of single axis tracker technology-based module mounting structures along with the erection of MMS, installation of PV modules and turnkey DC services (charging the inverters). This project site proved to be quite challenging, with a lot of site condition related difficulties faced by the project execution team. The team successfully overcame the challenges with their expertise in executing projects, providing customised turnkey module mounting structures and solutions.
This project has been developed under the Karnataka State Solar Policy with power plant agreements signed between private IPPs and the Karnataka State Electricity Board. It is now one of the highest power generating plants for ReNew Power, from 10 other projects developed on similar technology. The plant load factor (PLF) as of now is measured well above 24 percent.
The team executed the project in collaboration with one of their single axis tracker technology partners, Solpower Green, Mumbai. The partner designed and supplied the single axis tracker technology, with supervision during the project execution stage. The technology is based on a hydraulic mechanism with controllers designed and supplied by Occidental Energy LLC, AZ USA.
With the successful completion of the project, Tata International has consolidated its position as a leading project player offering design, engineering, supply and installation of Solar PV Module Mounting Structures with turnkey DC solutions.
