Myanmar country head invited to interact with Indian foreign minister

Indian External Affairs Minister Ms Sushma Swaraj attended the East Asia Summit at Nay Pyi Taw, capital of Myanmar, held during August 8-11, 2014. She interacted with the Indian business community during this three-day visit and Mr Sunil Seth, Myanmar, Country Head, representing TIL, was among the select invitees. Foreign Secretary Ms Sujata Singh, and Joint Secretary of Myanmar and Bangladesh Ms Ranganathan also participated in the meet and interaction with Indian corporate leaders.

Mr Seth briefed the minister about TIL’s activities in Myanmar and as well as the Tata group’s investment plans in the country. The Indian business community put forward requests for more direct shipping links between eastern Indian ports and Myanmar, and also direct flight connections between Yangon and Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. Ms Swaraj in her discussions touched upon the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi to Myanmar in November 2014.
