Minerals team participates in the 8th Indian Coal Markets Conference

Tata International (TIL), as a prominent coal trading house, was invited to participate in the 8th Indian Coal Markets Conference. Mr Sabyasachi Mishra, Head – Minerals, TIL Singapore, addressed the gathering at India’s only conference that focusses on the issues that concern consumers of coal. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency in Kolkata, West Bengal (India) on September 14-16, 2014. Mr Ashish Navaney, Head – Minerals, TIL India, also attended the conference.
The conference is an annual gathering of Indian policy makers, coal producers, traders, shipping and logistics companies, consultants and consumers from the aluminium, steel/sponge iron, cement and power generation sectors. The discussions focussed around the Indian demand and supply dynamics, and the forecast of imported coal versus Indian coal production.
The new government’s plans to boost infrastructure spending and spur the economy into a new high-growth trajectory, the outlook for India’s steel, cement and power production, and plans to remove bottlenecks to coal mining projects and increase production were some of the key topics discussed.
