Minerals business makes record trade of thermal coal during FY 2014-15

April 30, 2015

Tata International’s Minerals Trading business has set a new record – trading 4.5 million metric tonnes of thermal coal during FY 2014-15 – the highest ever in its trading history. This marks the third successive year of 100-per cent year-on-year volume growth for the business. Key drivers of business growth have been India’s robust energy demand, improved customer penetration in the Indian and Chinese markets, strengthened sourcing out of Indonesia and South Africa, and a healthy improvement in internal operating parameters.

“Our trading business is uniquely poised to leverage the substantial opportunity presented by the growing energy needs of the South Asian region and we look forward to establishing ourselves as one of the leading trading houses in the region over the next 2-3 years,” said Mr Alfred Egli, Head of TIL’s global Minerals Trading business.
