Madagascar team participates in International Exhibition and Trade Fair

Tata International’s Madagascar operations took part in the first edition of the International Exhibition and Trade Fair held at the Forello Ground in Antananarivo in March 2016. The team participated in the event following an invitation to the Tata group from the Mr Thapliyalat, India’s Ambassador to the country.

The event, which will be held on an annual basis, was organised by Mr Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the President of the Republic of Madagascar. Mr Kolo Roger, Vice President of Republic of Madagascar Senate, who has also been the former Prime Minister, and former Minister of Commerce and Consumption, inaugurated the fair.

The purpose of the fair was to boost economic relations between Madagascar, Indian Ocean and Asian countries. Companies that exhibited from these countries specialised in different products such as commodities, agricultural equipment and vehicles.The event also aims to create a platform where business-to-business would be mixed with business-to-consumer opportunities.

The TIL stall was hosted by Mr Romeo Das, Head – Minerals Africa, who welcomed visitors. Visitors included business professionals interested in opportunities for dealing in Tata vehicles in Madagascar as well as individuals who wanted to buy Tata vehicles. Among the many delegates who visited the stall were Mr Odavjee Anilkoumar, Chairman of Pala Group, which will be taking over the Titan watch and jewellery franchise in Madagascar and Reunion.

Among the Indian Ocean countries that took part in the event were Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoro, while Asian countries were actively represented by delegates from China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan.
