Customer visits TIL tannery as part of Supplier Compliance Programme

April 25, 2018

A long-standing customer of Tata International’s Finished Leather sheep and goat business, visited the tannery on April 16, 2018. The visit was a part of the customer’s Supplier Compliance Programme that dictates that the company only buy materials from suppliers that have been personally visited and approved by its senior managers and directors. During the visit, the CEO and his team met Mr Ashish Jha, Head, Finished Leather Operations.

The visitors reviewed the various environmental programmes of water recycling, recovering chrome, reusing sludge and leather shavings and the solar initiative at the plant. They were impressed by the eco-friendly measures undertaken by Tata International, as well as by the 100-acre woodland maintained over the 40 years since the establishment of the tannery. The tannery was the first in India to be awarded LWG Gold status and ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations.
