Africa teams celebrate Nelson Mandela Day

On July 18, 2017, teams from Tata Africa Holdings, Tata Automobile Corporation SA, Tata Steel Processors and Tata Motors visited Nyeleti Children’s Home in Benoni, east of Johannesburg to commemorate Nelson Mandela International Day 2017.
Together, the teams undertook chores that included: spring cleaning of the home, fixing cupboards in the kitchen, fitting new door handles, fixing and replacing curtain rails and replacing all the old beds with new ones. Fun activities that included face painting and games were also organised for the children.
The day ended with a braai (barbeque) for the children and staff of the home.
It is in the core of Tata companies to give back to the communities within which each entity operates. As an organisation we believe that there is more that can be done when we work as a team – one team, one goal.
Celebrated every year, the initiative aims to acknowledge the 67 years that Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity – as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peacemaker and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.
