Tata International introduces Computer Training Sessions at a local Chennai school

Students of M/s. Somangalam School are the first beneficiaries of this initiative
Tata International Limited (TIL), a Global Trading and Distribution Company as part of their ongoing efforts towards supporting education and community development, recently introduced Computer Training Sessions for students of M/s Somangalam School in Chennai.
As part of this initiative, Volunteers from Tata International have been imparting professional training to students of class XI. The duration of this course is 6 months, during which, the students learn how to use MS Office Suite 2007 including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
This training is provided as an additional benefit to the students, apart from their regular school syllabus, and aims at providing children an equal opportunity in the corporate world.
Speaking on this initiative, Mr. N. Mohan, Global Head, Leather and Leather Products, said, “At Tata International, we have always been at the forefront of providing educational opportunities to students from all walks of life. With detailed groundwork in place, we have embarked on this journey to introduce students to professional computer training for an enhanced and successful future, and hope to take this initiative to many other cities in the time to come.”
The Volunteers of this programme also conduct an orientation for the students, with an objective to build a rapport and understand the skill level, basis which the syllabus and difficulty level of the training sessions are finalized. So far, over 30 students and 8 teachers of Somangalam School have been trained under this programme and training for the second batch of students commenced recently.
At the end of the 6 month course, Tata International will felicitate all students with a certificate to recognize the training undertaken by them.
Tata International Limited, is dedicated towards constantly contributing towards societal well-being in line with the Tata group philosophy. While contributing towards education, Tata International provides yoga sessions for school students across the country with an objective to enhance the behavioral aspects of children. Under this initiative, TIL has taught 185 students across the country.
Additionally, the Company also conducts art sessions to boost creative thinking. Moving beyond educational support, TIL is also at the forefront of infrastructural support, whereby they have facilitated schools with toilets for female students and teachers, and also donated utensils for mid-day meals, benefitting a total 290 students.
