MD visits TIL Africa operations

Tata International MD, Mr NN Tata, made a tour of some of the company’s operations across the African region in April and May 2016. This included visits to the South Africa, Tanzania and Mozambique operations. At each of the locations, Mr Tata was taken on a tour of the facilities and briefed on the plans for the year.

Mr Tata visited South Africa at the end of April. While on his visit to Tata Automobile Corporation (SA)(TACSA), he inaugurated two facilities on April 30. At Germiston, Johannesburg, a new workshop commercial vehicle workshop was launched. Later that day, Mr Tata inaugurated TACSA’s used vehicle division, Trucks Assured.

On May 1, Mr Tata visited Tata Holdings Mocambique and Cometal SARL in celebration of Labour Day. He also met with Dr Nazira Vali Abdula, Minister of Health. The day wrapped up with a get-together with key customers Mr Castica Cosa and Mr Afsal Poptia who represented the key account of Tata De Mozambique Ltd. Cogef Group Chairman, Mr Rizwan, and Africom Delta Corporation CEO, Mr Vinod Pandey were also in attendance.

Mr Tata visited the Tanzania operations during May 2-4. The Motor Hub East Africa premises that he visited is new to the TIL fold. The company deals with centralised procurement, warehousing and subsequent supplies to Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe. Mr Tata was given a tour of the new site where the Motor Hub business will be shifted in coming years. He shared valuable inputs with the team on the layout and critical steps in preparing the premises.

In the evening, a dinner with key clients from all the Africa businesses – Auto, Allied, Chemicals, Glass, HCD and Agro, along with financers, bankers and the Directors of Tata Tanzania – was held.
